Black fantail. They don't stay still for long and catching them with the camera is very difficult.

The return on the upper loop is an easier walk


The view across Blueskin Bay from near the end of the track is spectacular. Someday there may be a visitors centre about here.

I very much enjoyed the walk through bush/forest so close to our city. This larger map shows Waitati and motorway turnoff bottom left corner with road to Doctor's Point on the left side. The dotted line shows the main track through the Orokonui Sanctuary.
The Trust needs to raise about $3 million dollars to build the fence to keep predators out. If you are interested in helping please contact Diane Campbell-Hunt at diane.ch@clear.net.nz.
